The Experience
Part 1: The River Safari
We drive north to the boat landing (Tower Hill). Here, you board a riverboat for a 26-mile journey up the New River.
- Wildlife Spotting: Your captain is an expert at finding wildlife. Look for “Jesus Birds” (Jacanas) walking on lily pads, sunbathing crocodiles, and troops of Spider Monkeys swinging in the trees.
Part 2: The High Temple
We dock right at the jungle’s edge. A short hike takes you to the Mask Temple (famous for its huge stone faces) and the High Temple.
- The View: Climb 108 feet to the top of the High Temple. The view of the river lagoon and the endless canopy is one of the most photographed in Belize.
